About Terra-SAN
TERRA-SAN is a privately held digital media management firm based in Norwalk, Connecticut.
Founded by CEO Joel DeGray, Director of Operations Lori DeGray and CIO Keith DeGray,
Terra-SAN is the only digital media management firm that utilizes a UNIX-based system
to read, import, load and back up CDs and DVDs, putting them directly onto any digital
media server.
The firms UNIX-based, robotically controlled facility sets the benchmark for digital
media services by being both platform and manufacturer independent, while at the
same time being compatible with all manufacturers. Its custom-built interface is
capable of utilizing all standard ID3 tagging sources.
TERRA-SAN which was named by merging the word TERRA another name for planet Earth
which symbolizes the firms global nature with the acronym Storage Area Network,
began as a grass-roots business in the basement of Joel and Loris' Norwalk home.
The founders spent about 13 months custom-building a UNIX-based platform the
most reliable platform for mission-critical business applications. After launching
the company in August 2005, they moved to its current state-of-the-art fiber-optic
Norwalk facility.
Today, TERRA-SAN is the only authorized importer for leading audio/video systems
manufacturer Kaleidescape, and is one of only two certified partners for both Elan
and ReQuest.
